A Reflection
paper on the ICT Learning Process
The use of information and
communication technology (ICT) such as Internet is a global system where
networks that uses the internet to connect to billions of devices worldwide and
applications programs that causes many changes that somehow affects people in the
society. Many of the major foundation of our society have changed and the way
we live our daily lives have been impacted. However, the impact on education
may just beginning to be felt as teachers integrate this new technology into
their teaching. In the early stages of the use of ICT in teaching, looking at
the experiences of teachers at a high school provides some clues as to what
possibilities and problems may be presented with this new technology. The ICT
has brought opportunities in Senior High School it inclined us to use it to go
search online to help us get more information as we use the technology for
surfing information for the subject that enables us to gain information such as
more words to capture, more ability to use the technology or software or
hardware and it allows us to send ideas or information to other network users. Teachers
could give many different and specific examples of how technology had changed
and could change their work and the process of our learning. A number of things
were being done and given with Websites and Power point activity. From us,
students note which one teacher described as to getting students to create
their own Web pages. Teachers were using a powerpoint to enhance a report
presentation to attract students for it is an easy way to get the student’s
attention. The Web site introduces students the topics being discussed in class
and tells them what was the topic is all about, according to the teacher’s
process of teaching. It shows them techniques they can use to analyze the recorded
data and to interpret. Through ICT technologies that uses powerpoint
presentation it helps students benefit from the actual learning. Students and
teachers mentioned that the use of Power Point and other computer programs
helps to improve their presentation of material to class. Teachers explained
that technology enabled teachers to deliver more material to students and
student may gain big confidence boost in speaking when it comes to reporting
and it eliminates several basic problems to students in Senior High School such
as poor hand writing, poor artistic skill, contrast, lighting, and visibility.
The students do activities and uses Information and communication technology to
elaborate their data using the computer. Then they use word processing programs
along with Excel to do graphs and presentations. The software allows us to
collect different kinds of data using various attachments that are plugged into
the computer. Using computer technology, we have more time to explore beyond
the mechanics in setting an assessment or study for academics. It actually lets
us look and understand the concepts better. I observed that the point that
resource-based teaching or resource-based learning is almost becoming seamless,
almost natural in everything that teachers do because information is becoming
easier to access with the ICT. I did respond to this opportunity by following
it because it is a requirement to have a laptop in Senior High School however
there were challenges that brought by the ICT integration which it is difficult
for me when there is a time where everyone is typing down notes while i am
dropping down notes in my journal notebook, it is easy for me to write because
as you get to write all information and everything you hear from your teacher
it helps you to acquire and gain lessons and notebook can easily be brought
anywhere you go without bringing a laptop with charger. It also helps you when
it comes to hand writing skills that you’ll be applying in future purpose like
in business proposals and other projects. I did respond to these challenges by
typing all the lectures then printing all the notes you have been typing and
you can compile it in one folder, it is an easy way to help student in learning.
The use of Information and communication technology it allows students to
follow with the teacher like Genyo E-Learning online network for students. In
these experiences that I’ve encountered with the use of ICT will help me
prepare in the future purposes when it comes to business and for communication but
with responsibility in handling and using applications such as Facebook, Skype,
and other social media.
